What are workflows?
A workflow is a set of instructions you save once and run whenever you need it, or on a schedule. Each run starts a new conversation with an agent.
Some requests come up again and again: check the site for broken links, write this week’s release notes, review what changed today. Instead of typing the same request each time, save it as a workflow and run it with one click.
What a workflow contains
- Instructions. What the agent should do, written the way you’d write a message. You can use headings, lists, and links.
- A title. Optional. Without one, Enjoy names the workflow after the start of its instructions.
- A collection. A group the workflow belongs to. New workflows go into Yours unless you pick another collection.
- A preferred agent. Optional. The agent, model, and other settings its runs should use.
- A schedule. Optional. For example, every weekday at 9:00.
Workflows belong to one project. Enjoy keeps them with the project’s conversations and docs. See Project storage.
Ways to use a workflow
- Run it. Run workflow starts a new conversation where the agent follows the instructions. See Run a workflow.
- Add it to a message. Type @ in the message box to attach a workflow and add your own details. See Add a workflow to a message.
- Schedule it. Enjoy starts a run at the times you choose while it’s open on your computer. See Schedule a workflow.
- Link it to another workflow. Mention one workflow inside another, and the agent continues with it when it gets there. See Link workflows.
Each run is an ordinary conversation. You can reply to steer the agent, answer its questions, and follow up when it’s done.
Where to find them
Select Workflows at the top of a project, next to Conversations and Files. You can also press ⌥⌘3 on a Mac, or Ctrl+Alt+3 on Windows and Linux.
The list groups workflows by collection. Use the buttons above it to show All, only Scheduled workflows, or one collection, and type in Search to find a workflow by its name or instructions. Select a workflow to read it and run it.
When you start a new conversation, Enjoy also suggests up to three of your workflows under Start with a workflow.
Where workflows come from
- You write them. Select New workflow. See Create a workflow.
- The Gallery. Ready-made workflows you can add to the project. See Add ready-made workflows from the Gallery.
- Your agent. Ask it to save a routine as a workflow. See Ask your agent to create or change a workflow.
When a workflow helps
- Tasks you repeat with the same steps, like preparing a release or tidying the project.
- A standard way of doing something, like a review checklist you want followed every time.
- Checks you want done on a schedule, like a morning summary.
For a one-off task, a normal conversation is simpler. See Turn repeat work into workflows.
On the web app and the iPhone app
- The web app (app.enjoy.dev) has the same Workflows tab. Only opening a workflow’s file in another app needs the computer app. Scheduled runs still happen on the computer that has the project.
- The iPhone app has a Workflows tab in each project. You can filter workflows by collection, read their instructions, see their agent, schedule, and next run, and run them. A search box appears once a project has eight or more workflows. You can also add a workflow to a message or start a new conversation from a suggested workflow. To create, edit, schedule, or delete workflows, manage collections, or use the Gallery, use the computer app or the web app.
