Edit a workflow

ComputerWeb app2 min readUpdated October 3, 2026

Change a workflow's instructions, title, collection, agent, or schedule. Changes apply to future runs. Runs and messages that already used it keep the version they started with.

Steps

  1. Open the workflow

In Workflows, select the workflow. Its details open beside the list.

  2. Select Edit workflow

The editor opens under the heading Edit workflow.

  3. Make your changes

Edit the instructions in Workflow, the Title (optional), the Collection, the Preferred agent (optional), or Repeat.

  4. Select Save workflow

Or select Cancel to throw away your changes.

Good to know

  • Changes apply from the next run. A run that’s already going keeps the instructions it started with, and messages you’ve sent keep their copy.
  • To rename a workflow, change its Title (optional). To move it to another collection, choose one in Collection.
  • To find or replace words in long instructions, select Find in document above the editor. See Find and replace.
  • Edit workflows in Enjoy rather than in another app. On the computer app, the file name under a workflow’s instructions opens its file in your default app. If a scheduled workflow’s file is changed there, Enjoy stops running it and shows Desktop review needed until you save it again in Enjoy.
  • Workflows that link to this one use its latest instructions the next time they reach it. See Link workflows.
  • The iPhone app can’t edit workflows.

If something goes wrong

“Workflow no longer exists.”

The workflow was deleted while you were editing, perhaps from another device. Your text is still in the editor. Copy it, select Cancel, then create a new workflow and paste it in. See Create a workflow.

Edit workflow or Save workflow is greyed out

Save workflow stays greyed out while the Workflow box is empty. If Edit workflow is greyed out, you have View only access to the project. Ask its owner for Can work access.

The workflow shows Desktop review needed

Enjoy couldn’t confirm the workflow is still the one that was saved, so it won’t run. This happens when a scheduled workflow’s file was changed outside Enjoy, or when a device that saved the workflow was removed. Select Edit workflow, check the instructions and Repeat, and select Save workflow.

If saving shows “The remote client that requested this work is no longer approved.”, the workflow was saved from a device that no longer has access. Create a new workflow with the same instructions, then delete the old one.

A run fails with “Saved work changed or its origin record is missing.”

The workflow’s file was changed outside Enjoy since it was last saved. Open the workflow, select Edit workflow, check the instructions, and select Save workflow. Then run it again.
