Start a new project
Create a new, empty project folder from the computer app or the iPhone app, and start describing what you want to build.
A new project starts as an empty folder on your computer. Your agent fills it with files as it builds what you describe.
Before you start
- Enjoy is open on your computer, and your trial or Unlimited plan is active.
Steps
Select Start new project
Select Projects at the top of the window, then Start new project at the bottom of the menu. If you don’t have any projects yet, select Start something new on the Let’s get started. screen instead.
Name the folder and choose where it goes
In the Create project folder window, replace Untitled project with your project’s name. Enjoy suggests your Documents folder, and you can choose another place. Select Save.
Start your first conversation
Enjoy creates the folder and opens the new project on a new conversation. Describe what you want in the message box and press Enter.
Start a project from your iPhone
You can also create a project from the iPhone app while it’s connected to your own computer. On the projects screen, select New project. Type a Name, choose a Color, and select Create project. The new folder goes in a folder named Enjoy in your home folder on that computer. See What you can do from your phone or a browser.
Good to know
- The folder’s name becomes the project’s name. You can rename the project, or the folder itself, in Project settings. See Change a project’s name and settings.
- New projects are pinned as tabs at the top of the window automatically. See Pin projects as tabs.
- The project starts with the agent you set up first. You can choose a different agent in any conversation. See Switch agents in a conversation.
- The folder stays empty until your agent adds files. Enjoy keeps the project’s conversations, documents, and workflows in its own storage, not in the folder. See Choose where a project’s conversations are stored.
- You can’t start projects in the web app. Start them on your computer or from the iPhone app.
- To work on a folder you already have, open it instead. See Bring an existing project into Enjoy.
If something goes wrong
“A file or folder already exists there. Choose a different name, or import the existing folder.”
Something with that name is already in the place you chose. Enjoy never replaces it. Choose a different name, or open the existing folder with Open any folder.
“A project is already being added.”
Enjoy is still opening another project. Wait for it to finish, then try again.
Creating a project from the iPhone doesn’t work
The iPhone app explains what’s needed:
- If it asks for a name without certain characters, remove any of these from the name:
/ \ : * ? " < > |. The name also can’t end with a period. - If it says a project with that name already exists on your computer, choose another name.
- If it asks you to connect again with a code from Enjoy on your computer, your iPhone’s current connection can’t create projects, for example because it can only reach some of your projects. Connect it again with a new code. See Connect your phone.
- If it says Creating projects needs Enjoy Unlimited on your desktop., the Unlimited plan on the account signed in to Enjoy on your computer isn’t active. See Create your account and start your free trial.
