Connect your phone

Before you start

• You need the Unlimited plan. See The Unlimited plan.
• Your computer is on, online, and running Enjoy, signed in to your account.
• Have your phone and your computer side by side. The code lasts five minutes.

Steps

1. Open your account

   On your computer, select the circle with your initial in the top-right corner of Enjoy.

2. Choose Connect a personal device

   It’s under My computers. A window opens with a QR code and an eight-character code, and shows how long the code has left.

3. Scan the QR code

   Point your phone’s camera at the QR code and open the link it finds. The window mentions the iPhone app, but any phone camera works: the link opens Enjoy in your phone’s browser, or in the iPhone app if it’s installed. In the iPhone app, you can also choose Scan code.

4. Confirm the computer

   If your phone asks Connect to followed by your computer’s name, check that it’s your computer and select Connect this browser, or Connect in the iPhone app.

5. Compare the six digits

   Your phone shows Approve on with your computer’s name and six digits. Your computer shows a window saying your phone wants to connect, with six digits too.

6. Select It matches · Approve

   Do this on your computer, only if the digits are the same on both screens. Otherwise select Decline.

7. Start using Enjoy

   Your phone says it’s connected to your computer and opens your projects.

Good to know

• No camera, or the scan doesn’t work? On your phone, go to app.enjoy.dev, type the eight-character code, and select Connect. In the iPhone app, choose Enter code. Upper or lower case both work, an O is read as a zero, and an I or L as a one.
• If your phone is already signed in to your account, Enjoy can ask your computer to show the code for you, and the Connect a personal device window opens there by itself. In the iPhone app, find the computer on the Computers screen or in Settings, then select Connect this iPhone. In the web app, this happens when it finds your computer.
• You do this once for each phone and computer. After that the phone reconnects on its own whenever your computer is on, online, and running Enjoy.
• If your phone wasn’t signed in to Enjoy, approving it also signs it in to your account. Your phone can open every project on that computer.
• Closing the approval window on your computer counts as Decline.
• Each code works for one device. Done closes the window but keeps the code working until it’s used or expires. Cancel stops the code.
• Your phone appears in My computers under Personal devices, with a name such as Safari on iPhone. You can rename or disconnect it there, and show a new code with Connect a personal device. See Rename or disconnect your devices.

If something goes wrong

That code has expired.

Codes last five minutes. On your computer, select Show a new code, then scan or type the new one.

That code isn’t right.

Check the code on your computer and type it again. It’s shown as two groups of four characters. After several wrong tries, Enjoy asks you to wait a minute, or shows a new code on your computer to use instead.

Your computer didn’t approve this device

Someone selected Decline on the computer, or closed the approval window there. Show a new code on the computer and start again.

The connection dropped

The phone lost its connection after using the code, so that code is used up. Show a new code on your computer and try again.

Unlimited is required to connect.

Connecting devices is part of the Unlimited plan. Start or renew it, then try again.

Your computer has too many devices

The message names your computer. A computer can have up to 64 approved devices, counting your team members’ devices. Disconnect one you no longer use in My computers, then try again.

This code is for someone else’s devices

Your phone is signed in to a different Enjoy account than the computer. Codes only connect devices of the computer’s own account.

• If the computer is yours and you typed the code, select the button to use your computer’s account instead, then Sign out and continue. This isn’t offered for a code opened from a link.
• To work on someone else’s computer with your own account, ask them for an invite. See Join someone else’s computer.

Still stuck in the iPhone app

If the iPhone app connected to a computer before, open Settings: select the round button with your initial at the top right of the Projects screen, or of the Computers screen if you have more than one computer. Under Support, select Export connection logs. Review the report, then select Share report to send it to support. It contains connection events and app details, not your conversations or credentials.
