Keep a project synced across your computers

When the same project is on two of your computers, Enjoy can keep its conversations, workflows, and docs the same on both.

If you work on the same project from two of your computers, say a MacBook and a Mac mini, each one keeps its own conversations, workflows, and docs for it. Enjoy can keep them the same on both, so you can pick up on either computer.

This works when:

  • Both computers are yours, signed in to the same account, with Enjoy open.
  • You’ve connected from this computer to the other one before. See Connect another computer.
  • The project’s folder on each computer is a copy of the same Git repository.

Steps

  1. Open the project

When Enjoy finds the same project on your other computer, a card appears at the top of the conversation list, such as Beer is also on Mac mini.

  2. Select Keep them synced

Enjoy copies what each computer is missing to the other one. The card then shows what came here and what went to your other computer.

  3. Keep working on either computer

While both are online, Enjoy syncs them every couple of minutes.

If you’d rather keep them apart, select Keep separate instead. Enjoy stops asking, on both computers.

Change your mind

  1. Select Project settings. It’s the button with sliders at the right end of the bar below the project tabs.
  2. Expand Storage.
  3. Turn the option on or off. Select Keep conversations, workflows, and docs synced across computers. Turning it off stops syncing on both computers. What each one already has stays.

Turn it back on here to resume syncing on both computers. If the other computer is offline, Enjoy remembers your choice and resumes when it can connect.

Good to know

  • What syncs: conversations, docs, workflows, and the project’s agent instructions.
  • What stays on each computer:
    • the project’s own files, since Git already handles those
    • running work, processes, and worktrees
    • message drafts
    • workflow schedules: a scheduled workflow comes over, but it only runs on the computer where you scheduled it
  • Working conversations wait. A conversation that’s still working, waiting for you, or keeping a registered process running syncs once that work is done.
  • Edits made during a sync are preserved. If something changes before Enjoy can apply a sync, it checks both computers again using the latest versions.
  • Unreadable records pause syncing. If a conversation, doc, workflow, or instructions file cannot be read, Enjoy shows the problem in Project settings › Storage. Fix the unreadable file to resume; a read error does not delete the other computer’s copy.
  • Changes on both computers are kept. If you continue the same conversation on both computers, you’ll see both versions, labelled Continued on MacBook and Continued on Mac mini. A doc edited on both computers is kept twice, with the other computer’s name added to the copy’s title. Instructions edited on both keep the lines from each.
  • Deleting travels. Deleting a conversation or doc on one computer deletes it on the other, unless it changed there since.
  • Continuing on the other computer. The agent there starts a new session and is given the conversation so far.
  • Records go straight between your computers. They use the same encrypted connection as the rest of Enjoy. Nothing is stored along the way.
  • One partner per project. A project syncs with one other computer.
