See your site from the web app or your iPhone

When an agent opens your site on your computer, you can view and use it from app.enjoy.dev, the iPhone app, or another computer too. Enjoy reaches the site through your computer.

Your site runs on your computer, at an address like http://localhost:3000 that only that computer can open. When an agent opens the site beside a conversation, Enjoy can also show it on your other devices by connecting to it through your computer. The connection is encrypted between your device and your computer.

What you need

  • The computer running the site is on, awake, and has Enjoy open. See Keep your computer awake.
  • The site is running on that computer, and the conversation has a preview, usually because the agent opened it.
  • You can view the project from this device. People you’ve shared the project with can see its previews too, including with View only access.

Enjoy can show sites at your computer’s own addresses, such as http://localhost:3000. A public website with an https:// address opens in a new tab instead.

On the web app

  • In a wide window, the site shows beside the conversation, as on your computer, with Show product browser, Hide product browser, and Expand product. The toolbar has only Refresh product and Open product in a new tab.
  • In a narrow window, a card above the message box names the site and the computer it’s on. Select Open to show the site in place of the conversation, and Chat to go back. Nothing loads until you select the card.
  • Links in the conversation that point to the site open in the browser beside it.
  • When the site opens one of its pages in a new tab, that tab goes through Enjoy first. If it asks, select Continue. Sign in to open this site means you need to sign in to Enjoy in that browser. Open this site from Enjoy means this browser hasn’t shown that preview before, so open it from its conversation first. This site isn’t available right now means Enjoy couldn’t reach it through your computer. Select Try again.

On the iPhone app

  • A row under the conversation’s title names the site and the computer it’s on. Tap it to open the site full screen. Nothing loads until you tap.
  • At the top, use the × to close, the circular arrow (Refresh) to reload, and the Safari button (Open in Safari) to open the site in Safari.
  • Links in the site to other websites open outside the Enjoy app. Email and phone links ask “Open in another app?” first.

On another computer

When you use the computer app to work in a project on another computer, the site shows in the product browser beside the conversation. Its toolbar has Go back, Go forward, Refresh product, and Open in external browser.

Messages you might see

  • “[Site] isn’t ready yet”. The first view of a new site can take a while to set up. Select Try again.
  • “[Site] isn’t running on [computer] right now”. The site’s server stopped, or the server at that address wasn’t started from this project. Ask the agent to start it again, then select Try again.
  • “[Computer] is offline”. The computer is asleep, off, or not running Enjoy. Open Enjoy on it, or ask its owner to.
  • “[Site] only opens on [computer]”. Enjoy can’t pass the preview’s address to other devices, for example an address on your local network or an https:// address on the computer itself. Ask the agent to open the site at an http://localhost address instead.
  • “Update Enjoy on [computer] to see [site] here”, or “Ask [owner] to update Enjoy”. That computer’s Enjoy is too old for this.
  • “Previews are busy right now. Try again in a little while.” Enjoy has reached a limit on setting up or sending previews for now. Try again later.
  • “Previews are paused for now.” Previews are switched off for this account or computer for the moment. If it lasts, contact support.
  • “Open [site]” as a button. The site is a public website, or your web browser won’t keep the site’s sign-in inside Enjoy’s page. Select it to open the site in its own tab.
  • “Couldn’t open [site]” with a reason and Try again.

If the site doesn’t load on your computer either, see The preview won’t load.
