See your site beside the conversation
When your agent has your website running, Enjoy shows it in a browser next to the conversation. Click around, go back, refresh, check the phone layout, and hide it when you need the space.
The product browser is a web browser built into Enjoy. Each conversation has its own, so the site you’re working on in one conversation stays with it.
Before you start
- Use the computer app on the computer that runs your site. On the web app or iPhone app, see See your site from the web app or your iPhone.
- Your site needs to be running, usually at an address on your own computer such as http://localhost:3000. Words like this are explained in Words you’ll see in Enjoy.
Steps
Ask the agent to show it
When the agent has your site running, it usually opens it beside the conversation by itself. If it doesn’t, ask, for example: “Start the site and open it in the browser.”
Use the page
Click, type, and scroll as you would in any browser. The bar at the top shows the title the agent gave the site, or Product, and Loading… while a page loads.
Move around
Use Go back, Go forward, and Refresh product above the page. To go to another page, type a full address, including http:// or https://, in the address box and press Enter.
Check the phone layout
Select Use mobile width (the phone button) to show the page 375 pixels wide, about the width of a phone. Select Use desktop width to go back.
Hide it or show it again
Select Hide product browser (the ×) at the top of the browser. To bring it back, select Show product browser, the globe button at the top right of the conversation. If the agent opens a new page while the browser is hidden, the globe button turns blue until you show it.
Good to know
- Other ways to open it. Select a link to a page on your computer, such as http://localhost:3000, in the conversation. Or open a running website from Processes. See Open a running website from Processes.
- Hiding is remembered for each conversation on this computer. An agent can’t reopen a browser you’ve hidden, but it can keep using it in the background. See How agents use the built-in browser.
- Resize it by dragging the edge between the conversation and the browser. Double-click the edge to go back to the default size. To give the site most of the window, see Give the preview more room.
- Mobile width isn’t remembered when you switch conversations.
- Other links open in your default browser. Links in the conversation to websites on the internet, and to files such as .zip or .pdf, open there instead.
- No new windows or downloads. Pages that open a separate window, and file downloads, don’t work in the built-in browser. Select Open in external browser for those. See Open the preview in your usual browser.
- Enjoy closes pages nobody is using to save memory, for example a hidden browser whose agent has finished. When you show it again, it reloads the page it last showed. Your sign-ins stay. See Stay signed in to sites in the built-in browser.
- The product browser works in the computer app on Mac, Windows, and Linux.
If something goes wrong
“The page could not be loaded. Check that its server is running, then refresh.”
This message appears on a Mac. The site’s server isn’t running, or it stopped. Look for it in Processes. If it’s not there, ask the agent to start the site again. Then select Refresh product.
“The page is taking too long to load. Check its server or refresh to try again.”
The page didn’t finish loading within 30 seconds. Check that the server is still running in Processes, then select Refresh product.
“Use a full http:// or https:// product URL.”
Or “Use an HTTP or HTTPS product URL without embedded credentials.” The address you typed in the address box isn’t a complete web address. Type the whole address, including http:// or https://, such as http://localhost:3000, and press Enter.
“This link cannot open here. Use your external browser if needed.”
The page tried to open something that isn’t a web page, such as an email link. Select Open in external browser.
“This page opens a separate window. Open the product in your external browser to continue.”
Some buttons, such as certain sign-in buttons, open a new window. Select Open in external browser and continue there.
