Copy files into your project
Drag files from your computer into the Files explorer to copy them into your project folder. Your originals stay where they are, and Enjoy never replaces a file that's already there.
Before you start
- Use the computer app, with a project that’s on that computer. Dragging files in isn’t available in the web app or the iPhone app.
Steps
Open Files
Select Files at the top of your project.
Show where the files should go
Select Show explorer to see your project’s folders, or open the folder on Files home.
Drag the files in
Drag files from Finder, File Explorer, or your desktop onto a folder in the explorer, onto Project files, or onto the list of the folder you have open. A colorful border shows where they’ll be copied.
Drop them
Enjoy copies the files into that folder, and they appear in the list.
Good to know
- Enjoy copies the files. The originals stay where they were.
- Dropping on Project files or Files home in the explorer copies to the top of your project. Dropping on a file in a list copies to that file’s folder.
- Enjoy never replaces a file that’s already in the folder. A file with the same name is skipped, and the rest are still copied.
- Only files can be copied this way, not folders.
- Files of any type and size can be copied, including pictures, PDFs, and zip files.
- The new files don’t open by themselves. Select one to open it.
- Dropping images onto an open document adds them to the document instead. See Add images to a document.
- To give an agent a file without adding it to your project, attach it to a message. See Attach files and images.
If something goes wrong
“A file with this name already exists. The existing file was kept.”
The message starts with the name of the file that was skipped. Rename your copy before dragging it in, or rename or delete the file in the project first. See Rename or delete a file or document.
“Drop individual files to copy them into this folder.”
You dropped a folder. Open the folder on your computer, select the files inside it, and drag those in instead.
“This drop has expired. Drop the files again.”
Enjoy couldn’t finish the copy from that drag. Drag the files in again.
No border appears when you drag
You’re not over the explorer or a folder list, or you have view-only access to the project. The computer’s owner can change that. See Change what a teammate can access.
