Mark finished work as completed
When a task is done, mark its conversation completed instead of adding the next task to it. Your list shows what's finished at a glance, and nothing is lost.
When an agent finishes, Enjoy leaves the conversation open in case you have a follow-up. The habit is to close the loop: check the result, then mark the conversation completed, and start the next task in a new conversation.
Why it helps
- The agent stays sharp. Everything in a conversation, including old requests and files the agent read, travels with every new message. Claude Code’s guide warns that as this fills up, the agent “may start ‘forgetting’ earlier instructions or making more mistakes.” OpenAI’s Codex guide lists “using one chat for an entire project instead of one chat per coherent outcome” as a common mistake.
- Your list tells the truth. Open conversations are work in progress. Completed ones show a Completed badge, and you can hide them to see only what’s left.
- Nothing is lost. Completing doesn’t delete messages, files, or what the agent knows about the conversation. If you send another message later, the conversation reopens on its own and the agent picks up where it left off.
How to do it
-
Check the result first. Look at the reply, the preview, or the changes. See Check the agent’s work.
-
Mark it completed. On your computer or in the web app, use any of these:
- Mark as completed, above the message box on the right. It appears when the agent has finished and the box is empty.
- Complete, next to the status under the conversation’s title.
- The three-dot Conversation actions menu, then Mark as completed.
In the iPhone app, open Conversation actions (the ⋯ button at the top of the conversation) and choose Mark complete.
-
Hide what’s done, if you like. Completed conversations stay in the list until you clear Show completed at the bottom of the conversation list. Enjoy remembers this for each project on that device. A completed conversation with unread replies stays in the list until you read it. The iPhone app leaves completed conversations out of its main list, and the Completed filter at the end of the filters opens them.
To undo it, select Reopen under the title, or choose Mark as uncompleted above the message box or in the Conversation actions menu.
An example
You ask: “Add a contact form to the homepage with name, email, and message fields. Show a thank-you note after sending.” The agent builds it and opens the preview. You try the form, it works, and you select Mark as completed.
Then you select New conversation and ask: “Add a pricing page with three plans.” The new agent starts with a clean slate instead of carrying the whole contact-form discussion.
A week later you want to change the thank-you note. Search for “contact form” in the conversation list. Searches include completed conversations unless you clear Show completed under the search box. Open it and reply. It reopens with its history intact.
Common pitfalls
- Trying to complete while the agent works. Completing isn’t available while the agent is working or while messages wait in the queue. Let the work finish or stop it, and send or remove any queued messages first.
- Expecting it to stop your website. Websites and other processes the agent started keep running after you complete the conversation. In the computer app, the site beside the conversation closes, but its server doesn’t stop. Stop processes you don’t need from Processes. See Stop a background process.
- Keeping it open in case you need it again. You don’t need to. Any new message reopens a completed conversation.
- Deleting instead. Delete conversation removes the history for good, and on the computer and in the web app it doesn’t ask first. Completing keeps it for later reference.
- Reusing a finished conversation for unrelated work. Start a new one. See Use one conversation per task.
