Working on someone else's computer
What you see and can do in projects someone shared with you, from who else is there to what happens when their computer goes offline.
When someone shares their computer with you, their projects run on their computer. You work on them from your own device, signed in to your own account.
Finding the shared computer
In the computer app, the computer menu in the top-left corner lists computers shared with you, with the owner’s face. The line under each one shows the owner’s name, whether it’s online, and how many projects you have there. In a browser, choose it under Pick a computer, or later from the same computer menu. In the iPhone app, it’s in Settings under Shared with you, and on the Computers screen when you have more than one computer.
Seeing who’s here
- Faces beside a project’s sections show who else has access to it: the owner first, then people who are online, then people who are away, shown faded. Point at the faces to see names and emails. In the iPhone app, the faces are on the project’s main screen.
- In the conversation list, a small face shows who started each conversation.
- Your own messages are labeled You, and other people’s show their first name. Agent replies say who they were for, such as for you.
What your access allows
- Can work: start conversations, send messages, answer agent questions, and change files.
- View only: read conversations and files. View only appears where the message box would be.
- When an agent asks permission to do something, you see Review and approve this action in Enjoy on your desktop., or Approve this on your desktop. in the iPhone app. Only the owner can approve it, on their computer.
- You can’t change an agent’s permission mode, and you can’t create new projects on someone else’s computer.
When the computer is offline
The agents and files live on the owner’s computer, so nothing can run while it’s off. You see that the computer is offline and when it was last seen, and Waiting for the computer’s name appears where the message box would be. What you already opened stays readable until you close Enjoy or reload the page. Everything comes back once the owner opens Enjoy on that computer.
When access changes
- If the owner stops sharing a project while you’re connected, it’s replaced with a note that they stopped sharing it. Select Remove from your projects to clear it.
- If the owner changes your access, Enjoy reconnects with the new access. Anything you had running there stops.
- If the owner removes you, you see Access to this computer has ended. Ask its owner for a new invitation.
Leaving a shared computer
- In the iPhone app, open Settings with the round button with your initial at the top right of the Projects screen, or of the Computers screen if you have more than one computer. Select the computer under Shared with you, then select Forget on this iPhone. Using it there again needs a new invite.
- The computer app and the web app don’t have a way to leave. Ask the owner to remove you, or to disconnect the device you no longer use.
